GEORGETOWN TWP, MI (WHTC) – A 19-year-old Kentwood man is in stable condition after a semi ran a red light struck his vehicle in Georgetown Township.
Deputies were called to the scene at Chicago Drive and 18th Avenue around 5:50 a.m. Friday morning. Sgt. Steigenga says 66-year-old Peter Petrenko of Grand Rapids was driving a semi for Prestige Transport westbound on Chicago Drive when he ran a red light at the intersection at 18th Avenue. The semi collided with 19-year-old Bronson Foote’s vehicle that was northbound on 18th Avenue and had a green light.
Foote was injured in the crash and transported to Metro Hospital by Life EMS. As a result of the crash, CSX train tracks and electronics were damaged causing disruption to the Amtrack passenger trains.
The semi driver was not injured in the crash.
