HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Residents and businesses in Holland on Saturday can join the national effort to bolster local charity food pantries.
The 25th annual “Stamp Out Hunger” drive held by the National Association of Letter Carriers was last Saturday, adding to the 1.5 billion pounds of food collected during the previous 24 years of the initiative. However, the drive is always postponed for a week in Holland due to the Tulip Time Festival, so those living in zip codes 49422, 49423 and 49424 are being asked to leave bags of non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes for postal carriers to pick up on Saturday. The collected food will be distributed to the needy through the Holland Rescue Mission, the Community Action House, the Salvation Army and the Center for Women in Transition.
