SPARTA TWP, MI (WHTC) – Police have released the names of the men involved in a road-rage related shooting incident in Sparta Township that has left one person dead and another injured.
Officials say 43-year-old Roger Chipman Junior has admitted to shooting 20-year-old Donald Dudley and 18-year-old Benjamin Dudley Monday around 3:21 a.m. during a fight near the Sparta Chevrolet on M-37.
Chipman was driving alone, while the Dudley brothers were in the same car and had another female passenger with them. Donald Dudley was killed in the shooting while Benjamin Dudley was taken to the hospital, where officials say they think he will recover.
Police are not calling Chipman a suspect at this time, and let him go after taking him into custody. Chipman had a concealed carry license, and it is not yet clear if he acted in self-defense.
