CASCO TWP., MI (WHTC) – The owner of an antiques store north of South Haven is dead and his stepson is in the Allegan County Jail following a shooting yesterday morning.
State police say that the area around the house and the Farmhouse Glenn Antiques Store off of the Blue Star Highway near 111th Avenue in Glenn is usually “pretty quiet,” but the still was broken by the sound of a gunshot around 7 AM. When troopers arrived at the scene, 58-year-old Robert Mark Hill was lying dead while his 27-year-old stepson, located in the backyard of the residence, surrendered without incident. His name was not immediately disclosed pending an arraignment in Allegan District Court that could come as early as today.
Further details about the circumstances that led to the shooting were not revealed, as detectives wanted to interview Hill’s wife, who was in the house at the time of the incident, as well as conduct a thorough probe of this site, along with the suspect’s home in St. Joseph, through search warrants. Tips to the state police post in Wayland are welcome.
