HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – No injuries were reported when a semi caught fire at the Herman Miller distribution center east of Holland on Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials with the office furniture maker, the contracted truck was carrying empty skids outside of the loading docks at the facility off of Adams Street around 2 PM when employees heard a loud bang, followed by the cab catching fire. The unnamed driver was able to escape before the blaze broke out and workers evacuated a nearby building as Holland Township firefighters brought the flames under control less than a hour after the incident occurred.
The cab was destroyed in the fire, and some damage to the trailer was noted, but Herman Miller officials say that no product was harmed, and a cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately determined.
