Sunday 5/28: Boatwerks Live Music- Boatwerks kicks the summer off with live music on their patio every night! 216 Van Raalte Avenue, Holland; 2 pm-5 pm & 6 pm-9 pm; Free.
Monday 5/29: Memorial Day Parade in Downtown Holland- Memorial Day is a day we gather to remember those who died in service so that we might be free. The people of Holland, Michigan would like to say thank you, at least in some small way, to those who served. Parade Route: 1.5 Miles. Begins on Corner of 8th Street & Central Avenue. Heads east on 8th Street to Columbia Avenue, south on Columbia Avenue to 16th Street, and finally east on 16th Street to Pilgrim Cemetery. 78 East 8th Street, Holland; 9:30am; Free.
Tuesday 5/30: Spring Film Series: Nise: The Heart of Madness at the Knickerbocker- The film is based on the real-life story of Nise de Silveira (Gloria Pires), and focuses on her work in the 1940s at a Rio de Janeiro psychiatric hospital where she overcame prejudices against her as a woman to demand and develop humane ways of dealing with the mentally ill. The New York Times has called it “mesmerizing,” and the film gathered awards at both the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival. The film is not rated and is in Portuguese with English subtitles. 86 East 8th Street, Holland, MI; 7:30pm; $7 for regular admission and $6 for senior citizens, Hope College faculty and children.
Wednesday 5/31: Farmers Market at Eighth Street Market Place- Buy fresh produce, flowers, plants, baked goods, meats cheeses, spices and more from over 50 vendors. Enjoy breakfast or lunch at our Food Court. 150 West Eighth Street, Holland; 8am-2pm.
Thursday 6/1: Cheers & Beers to 25 Years at Windmill Island Gardens- Lakeshore Disability Network is celebrating 25 YEARS! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and appetites! We’re having hot dogs, hamburgers – including gluten free – potato salad and other picnic goodies! Cash bar thanks to New Holland Brewing Pub on 8th! Entertainment provided by Delilah DeWylde!!! Friday 6/2: “Remember When” Cruise & Car Show in Downtown Holland- The Holland Vintage Car Club is planning their “Remember When” Cruise & Car Show for Downtown Holland. Bring the kids and grandkids..show them what they are missing out on. Even if you don’t have a car, grab a lawn chair, put on the Levis, t-shirts, cool shades & come Join the Fun! Open to all Antique, Classic, Custom, & Hot Rod Vehicles.
