FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC) – Fennville Public Schools didn’t need to go far to find its new operational leader.
The district announced on Thursday that Jim Greydanus will become its new superintendent, replacing Dirk Weeldreyer, who will retire on September 1st after more than nine years at the helm. Following a special meeting on Wednesday that included an interview with the current principal of Fennville High, the board voted to offer the leadership position with Greydanus and authorized the board’s Personnel Committee to immediately enter into contract negotiations.
Greydanus has been principal at Fennville High for four and a half years, and in a statement, Board President Dave Johnson said that “the results speak for themselves. We like what we’ve seen in his work and his leadership qualities, and we know that, under his leadership, the district will continue its progress towards excellence.” He was the only internal candidate to apply for the superintendent’s position, and the board decided not to conduct an external search.
With Weeldreyer’s retirement, Dr. Brian Davis becomes the longest-tenured school superintendent along the Lakeshore, as he took over the helm of Holland Public Schools in 2008.
