HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – There is the threat of severe thunderstorms along the lakeshore and across portions of lower Michigan late Wednesday evening and into early Thursday morning, June 15.
Although the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids hasn’t issued any warnings, winds could gust up to 60 mph and that could result in power outages. Consumers Energy is monitoring the weather closely, mobilizing resources and making other preparations to quickly respond to any service interruptions.
Roger C. Morgenstern is Senior Public Information Director For Consumer Energy and says being prepared is important.
“Make sure your electronic devices are charged and ready to go. Have a couple of days of drinking water, food and don’t forget about your pets. We remind people to stay away from downed power lines and with the winds we could have some down. Stay 25 feet away from a downed power line and call 911 or Consumers Energy. Gas leaks are possible and remember a gas leak smells like rotten eggs. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.”
In the event of a power outage, you can reach Consumers Ed 24/7 at 1-800-477-5050 or online. Business customers can sign up for text alerts by texting REG to 232273 (CECARE) and providing their account number when prompted. Additional storm and outage alerts are available online from the Consumers Energy outage center.
