HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Salvation Army’s presence along the Lakeshore will be amplified soon.
Ground was broken on Thursday for a 20 thousand square-foot expansion of the Army’s Holland area building off of Clover Street just east of the Tulip City. Construction should begin by the next of next week, and when completed, the new facility will have more space for classrooms, a gym and a worship center.
It took nearly two years for Major Matt Grindle and the local Army staff to complete a 1.4 million-dollar fundraising campaign.
“Historically the Army has had a number of staple programs that we’re able to offer, but we struggle because of the space here in our facility. A new facility will enable us to really expand all that particularly in the area of youth and children.”
The overall cost of the project is around four million dollars.
