HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Holland Department of Public Safety is reminding residents and visitors of the laws and ordinances pertaining to the use of fireworks within the City of Holland.
The use of consumer grade fireworks are allowed only during the hours of 8:00 a.m. through 1:00 am. and only allowed on the days OF, BEFORE and AFTER any one of the ten federal holidays. any violation will be considered a misdemeanor with up to 30 days in jail and fines.
Sky Lanterns are not classified as a firework and their use is prohibited within the City of Holland. These devices are considered an unattended flaming device and are prohibited by the International Fire Code.
Residents are also reminded to dispose of used fireworks in a safe manner, items may remain hot for some time and can cause a fire if disposed of without adequate cooling. It is recommended that these items be soaked in a bucket of water and disposed of the following day through normal household waste collection.
