7/10 Monday: An Evening With Frank Mays at Michigan Shipwreck Research Association- Come hear from the only living survivor of the sinking of the Carl D. Bradley on Lake Michigan in 1958. Frank Mays, who now lives in Florida, is coming back to Michigan for a one-night special event! This special evening is FREE for MSRA members! However, you MUST reserve your spot in this 150 seat auditorium now. 7/11 Tuesday: Vertical Church Beach Therapy at Holland State Park. Enjoy a relaxing time of getting to know other women from our community while we sit with our toes in the sand, lounging in our beach chairs, watching the sunset. 7/12 Wednesday: Walk about Wednesdays in Washington Square- Head on over the Washington Square for an interactive evening of art and activities. Artist will be displaying their work at several Washington Square merchant locations. Stroll from shop to shop, have the opportunity to engage with the artists and enjoy our beautiful neighborhood. 7/13 Thursday: Dorothy in Wonderland at Holland Civic Center- The worlds of Oz and Wonderland collide in this fantastically fun romp, cleverly and carefully adapted from the works of L. Frank Baum and Lewis Carroll. Dorothy Gale has made her way to the end of the Yellow Brick Road, and the wonderful Wizard of Oz is just about to help her get back home to Kansas. But before she can hop into the wizard’s balloon, another whirlwind appears over the Emerald City, sweeping Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion away to Wonderland. Equipped with their new assets — brains, heart and courage — Dorothy’s friends try to help her find her way home, meeting many other interesting characters along the way, including Alice, the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, March Hare, the Cheshire Cat and many more. They also must face a dangerous new foe — the Queen of Hearts! Dorothy and Alice team up to defeat the queen at croquet, but will that be enough to return Wonderland to normal? 7/14 Friday: Summer Concert Series – Delilah DeWylde at Kollen Park- The City of Holland Recreation Department is excited to announce that Meijer & The Stow Company will be sponsoring the summer concert series in 2017! The Summer Concerts at Kollen Park are one of the most popular spots to be on Friday evenings in the summer in Holland. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic basket and enjoy the sounds of summer. Please have pets on a leash. 7/15 Saturday: Macatawa Water Festival at Windmill Island- For the third year in a row, the Macatawa Water Festival, presented by Meijer, will be held on Holland’s Windmill Island. Over 30 community partners and sponsors will come together to offer water activities and educational experiences designed to engage both young and old to learn about restoring and preserving our lake and watershed. People will be able to kayak and bike around the island while exploring and learning about the great outdoors. Other activities include trout fishing (under 17 yrs old), learning about native and invasive plants, performing water quality experiments, and learning about water filtration and pollutants. This year, we have added an aspect on Upcycling and Recycling with the Hope Sustainability Institute. Meijer will provide seasonal fresh fruit from local farmers and water will be provided in abundance! 7th St. and Lincoln Avenue, Holland; 9:00 am – 1:00 pm; Free.
