HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Water, water everywhere and so much to learn about! The Macatawa Water Festival is coming back this weekend for the third year in a row on Holland’s Windmill Island.
The festival is presented by Meijer and features 30 other community partners and sponsors that will help provide an educational outlook on preserving our lake and watershed.
In addition to being able to explore Windmill Island and learn about nature, festival goers can participate in trout fishing (if your under 17 years old), perform water quality experiments, and learn about Upcycling and Recycling with the Hope Sustainability Institute.
The Holland Museum will have historical activities set up for the festival. Visit their tent to meet some friendly settlers from Holland’s past and learn about the ways they used water in their daily lives.
The Outdoor Discovery Center is organizing the event and will hold workshops on creating rain barrels and a wood duck nest box. Registration is required for the workshops. Kids are encouraged to complete a watershed passport, where they engage in fun games and crafts to be entered in for a prize.
Admission to the Macatawa Water Festival is free. It will be held on Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Windmill Island.
