ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – You can have one but not both.
That is the apparent message being sent by the Macatawa Area Express Authority to Zeeland when it comes to a fixed bus route to that city. Citing a mandatory need to reach the Padnos Transportation Center on a timely basis every hour, MAX Transit officials say that a proposed change to that route so that it could incorporate a stop at Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital would mean that the route would drop a stop at the City on a Hill Ministries campus. Zeeland City Council members will discuss the matter in a work-study session prior to this evening’s business meeting.
During that meeting, Greg Robinson of the West Michigan Airport Authority will present wording for a proposed ballot issue this November asking for a renewal of a .10 mill levy from voters in Holland, Zeeland and Park Township. The authority needs approval from the governing bodies in all three municipalities before it submits ballot language to Ottawa County by August 15th. The levy would be for a 10-year period, double that of the current millage that was passed five years ago.
The work-study session begins in Zeeland City Hall at 6 PM, a hour before the business meeting.
