HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Holland City Council has voted unanimously on a resolution for a 10-year millage for the West Michigan Regional Airport.
Voters are being asked to continue the .10 of a mill, for 10 years rather than the five-year period of the previous two requests. According to city documents, a 10 year millage period will avoid the potential costs of more frequent elections and will provide more funding flexibility to the Authority Board as it pursues further development of airport property for the benefit of the community.
According to the Airport Authority formation documents, the member units request the millage renewal vote on behalf of the Authority. Presentations to the three member units will be made over the next two weeks and the ballot language must be submitted to Ottawa County by August 15, 2017 in order to have this proposal on the November 7, 2017 ballot
