HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Greater Ottawa County United Way has just received a sizable donation from AT&T to put towards programs in communities all along the lakeshore.
During the Monday, July 24 edition of Talk of the Town on WHTC, Ruth Gaudard, Regional Director of External Affairs for AT&T, presented the President of Greater Ottawa County United Way, Patrick Moran, with a check of $5,000 as part of a larger donation of $4 million to more than 400 local United Ways across the country.
For more than 60 years, AT&T has supported The United Way in its program intiatives. According to Moran, the money will go to fund community-based programs like the organizations Career Exploration University, which gave Grand Haven High School students the opportunity to learn about the healthcare career field by working alongside trained medical staff at Ottawa Community Health System.
State Representative Daniela Garcia was also present during the meeting between AT&T and United Way, where she said that she’s always pleased to see companies giving back to the community. ” I’m really grateful to live and represent in an area where its not solely government providing resources,” she said. “We have community partners, whether their corporations or non profits, who are helping to support our youth going into the workforce.”
