POLKTON TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 30-year-old Allendale motorcyclist is in fair condition after being struck by a vehicle in Polktown Township.
Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 68th Avenue just north of Leonard at 5:34 p.m. Sunday evening. Sgt. Eric Westveer says 23-year-old Austin Camp of West Olive was northbound in a 2008 Pontiac Bonneville on 68th Avenue when he was distracted inside of his vehicle. Camp did not see a 2016 Harley Davidson driven by 30-year-old Nicholas Frantz of Allendale.
The motorcycle had slowed down to turn into a private drive when Camp’s vehicle struck him from behind. Frantz was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and received moderate injuries. He was transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids in fair condition.
Alcohol use is not believed to be a factor and Camp was not injured in the crash.
