ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A farming company based in Zeeland is being sued for failing to pay some of its debts.
Zeeland-based Boerson Farms is being sued by Minnesota-based CHS Capital. CHS says Boerson Farms failed to failed to adhere to an agreement regarding a 145-million dollar loan.
CHS claims Boerson lied about the volume of its grain harvest last year to avoid handing over its crops to CHS as part of a repayment agreement. They also claim that Boerson’s owners used some of the loan money to buy a home instead of putting it towards their business.
The Boerson family is hoping to keep the farming business alive and restructure their debt, but CHS is still aiming to take the company’s crops.
