HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A metal stamping automotive supplier is expanding in Holland Charter Township.
According to Lakeshore Advantage, GNS America, plans to invest $2.8 million and creating 30 jobs over the next two years. GNS is planning a 40,000 square foot addition to their existing facilities to increase manufacturing capacity. Once the facilities have been expanded, GNS will acquire and install new machinery and equipment. Most of the new jobs will be in new machinery operations, created as a result of this expansion project.
Drainage and the location of a retention pond east of GNS America’s main facility has caused significant logistical issues. GNS partnered with Lakeshore Advantage, Holland Charter Township, Holland Board of Public Works and a neighboring employer to draft a plan that improves drainage and accessibility which will allow for the GNS America expansion.
To provide adequate storm water retention for this additional impervious surface area as well as to alleviate on-going high water issues in the area, the Ottawa County Water Resources Commission (Drain Commission) will construct a 3-acre storm water retention pond on the northern unused, wooded portion of the Holland Board of Public Works’ Quincy Street electric substation. The municipal utility company will continue to own this property- there will be no change in ownership.
This will be the company’s third expansion since it outgrew its 100,000 square foot facility the company purchased in 2009. In 2016, GNS was awarded 101 Best & Brightest Employers to work for in West Michigan for 3 years and in 2016 was chosen as Best & Brightest Company to work for in the Nation.
