HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It was fitting that the Holland Energy Park celebrated their Grand Opening during Public Power Week and a Customer Appreciation Day is Friday.
Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW) is celebrating along with more than 2,000 other community owned, not-for-profit electric utilities. Dave Koster, General Manager at HBPW says that Public Power Week gives them the chance to emphasize the advantages of locally grown, locally owned power to Holland’s citizens.
Koster says they have an opportunity as a community owned utility to connect with the community in some different ways.
“We decided to look at a couple of ways that we could create a destination out of that site. Destination through the trails that circumnavigate the facility and go through the storm water measures that are there. Very attractive ground and within the facily with the visitor center. We can educate, inspire and we get a lot of school groups that come through our facilities”
At Friday’s Customer Appreciation Day their will be giveaways, free LED bulbs and refreshments from Cranes. The event runs from 11-5:00 p.m. at the Holland HBPW Service Center located at 625 Hastings Avenue in Holland.
