Wayne was a hardworking man, although he was retired longer than he worked. He worked at GM for 30 years and was retired for 38. He made sure to always take care of his kids and grandkids and he put others first. In retirement, he enjoyed taking his 1934 Model A in parades, camping with friends and family, and being with his wife – Verda, who was the love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elsie Humes; brothers, Donald Humes, Russell Humes, and Richard Humes; and son-in-law, Tim Snider.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Verda Morrissey; son, Wayne (Lisa) Humes II, daughter, Sheila Snider; son, Jeff (Sherry) Humes; grandson, Justin (Meghan) Snider; granddaughter, Stephanie Snider (JT Dochler); granddaughter, Salina Humes; granddaughter, Savannah (Jeremy) Hartman; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home 315 E. 16th St. Holland, MI 49423.
