HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Snow is on the way in West Michigan.
Thursday morning will see mild temperatures in the mid 40’s and then they will fall throughout the day with a rain/snow mix and then changing to all snow tonight and overnight into Friday.
The Ottawa County Road Commission is ready for the winter season. Legislation passed says municipalities can have green lights on their plows. As the Road Commission purchases new plows, they will be equipped with green lights. Zack Russel of the Ottawa County Road Commission says that the plows will be able to be identified easier.
“They’ll have green flashing lights along with the traditional amber lights that we have. It will make it easier to identify on the roads.”
Russel who was a recent guest on WHTC’s Talk of the Town gave some tips for safety when the plows are out.
“We want to make sure you always give snow plows enough room on the road because their big plows throwing a lot of snow and sometimes it’s hard for the drivers to see, especially when you’re really close by them. Especially when they are blowing up a lot of snow on the side it’s hard to see out their mirrors. It’s always best to give them as wide a berth as possible when you’re out on the road.”
Russell also says kids need to stay off the side of the road when waiting for the school bus. Here is a link to the interview from Talk of the Town.
