HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Since opening their doors on April 14th this past Spring, Cherry Republic feels at home in Holland.
The 8th Street location is decorated for the holidays and they are ready for their first holiday season in Holland. The 2,745 square foot store located at 29 West 8th Street is appealing to the eye and appetite. Everything from jams, salsas, dips, candy to cookies and everything in between related to cherries. The Holland location has a tasting bar where customers can try cherry-flavored wines and sodas.
The store has extended hours for the holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week says store manager Christina Streeter.
“We really try to promote our ability to ship from the store as well as ship items from our Empire location. We want people to know we specialize in gift giving. It was a really strong Summer and we saw people from all over the country. We continue to see a regional presence of customers coming in from out of state especially from Indiana and Chicago areas. We always love our Michigan customers, but we’re excited to see it spread a bit more regionally. The great thing about people here in Holland is that a lot of people are familiar with vacationing up in the Glen Arbor area and Traverse City so it’s been really nice to come into Holland and have it readily available for our customers.”
According to their website, Cherry Republic was founded in 1989 when Bob Sutherland began selling T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan “Life, Liberty, Beaches and Pie” from the trunk of his car. A few years and many thousands of T-shirts later, Bob branched out into cherry products with the opening of their Traverse City store.
Now with the Holland location open the chain will have seven locations in Michigan.
