GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – A 71-year-old man has died after being pulled from a burning home fire in Grand Haven.
Jon Carlson died Sunday morning. Carlson has severe smoke inhalation when he was rescued from a fire at his home on North 5th Street. Two women ages 64 and 85 suffered minor injuries in the fire that occurred just after 4:30 a.m. in a home located at the corner of Fifth and Adams streets.The area is next to the Grand Landing development on the north side of Grand Haven. A dog was also found deceased in the home.
The fire was caused by a discarded cigarette in a planter on Carlson’s porch according to fire officials. Neighbors say the home had been in the family for over 100 years.
