SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It may be last chronologically among the holiday parades this week, but the stroll down Butler Street in downtown Saugatuck on Saturday afternoon is by no means the least, according to organizers.
Saugatuck’s Festival Holiday Parade will have a “Whoville” theme, as attendees and participants are being asked to don their favorite character from Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” New mayor Ken Trester will be the parade marshal, but he’s looking forward to the evening’s tree lighting ceremony in the Children’s Park at Village Square that’s to begin about four hours after the start of the 1 PM parade. “If you remember the tree that we used to have in the harbor, which was destroyed the forces of weather a few years back,” he explained, “we have a new tree that we think we will be able to have up in time and we will be able to light that one as well.”
Before and after the parade, Santa’s Workshop will be held at the Coral Gables Annex. More information is here.
Saugatuck’s festivities come after Zeeland’s Magical Christmas Parade on Monday, Holland’s Holiday Parade of Lights on Tuesday, and Sinterklaas Eve in Holland on Friday.
