GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Ottawa and Allegan Counties until 4:00 p.m. today, December 7.
The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids says 1-4 inches of snow is expected with slippery road condition during the morning commute.
Visibility will be reduced at times making travel difficult. The Ottawa County Road Commission snowplows will be out in full force and they have some reminders about safety for drivers and youngsters.
Operation Superintendent Ryan Kemppainen says it’s important for parents to remember that when kids are waiting at the bus stop in the morning and it’s dark out with plows coming they need to stay back.
“The same goes for adults too. When you’re out there shoveling or driving, if the plow is coming, don’t assume that they can see you. They got a lot going on in that truck and if you see them, get back and let them do their job. Plowing is all about momentum. They can’t slow down for every driveway if they see someone shoveling the end of their driveway.” says Kemppainen.
Any school closings or delays will be on air on WHTC and online too.
