HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It’s not often that Holland, Michigan stages the “world premiere” of a motion picture.
However, such is the case this evening as “Wilderness to World Class” is slated to debut. The 80-minute feature documentary from the Holland Film Group goes back over the 160 years of this area’s history in a production aimed to be shown to schools, community groups and businesses over the next 10 to 15 years, promoting the Tulip City’s heritage.
The project was done in conjunction with the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area and with the Holland Museum. “(The film makers) spent about 15 months of production,” Education and Outreach Manager Connie Locker VerHulst explained during her monthly segment on “WHTC’s Talk of the Town” with Ed Ver Schure today, “going through and exploring Holland’s history, interviewing people from the area, and really talking about some of these themes that have shaped Holland since its inception to the present day.”
Tonight’s scheduled 7 PM premiere, along with 4 PM and 7 PM showings tomorrow, all at Hope College’s Knickerbocker Theatre, are free and open to the public.
