HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Now that the Holland Energy Park is in full operation, handling the electrical needs of Holland BPW customers, the next question is what to do with the James DeYoung Plant.
The Holland City Council will huddle with the board members of the municipal utility this evening to go over the process for determining the future of the site off of Pine Avenue north of the downtown district. Background information, along with what Mayor Nancy DeBoer learned during a special Mayors Institute on City Design national seminar she attended earlier this fall when she discussed this matter with other city planners, and what a small group that included DeBoer and other Holland planning officials have come up with thus far will be discussed.
Also during the biweekly council work-study session that begins in City Hall at 5:30 PM: A closed special meeting to review a legal opinion with city attorney Ron Vander Veen; a presentation of the fiscal 2017 audit of the city’s books by retained firm Rehmann Robson; and discussion of requests by the Tulip Time Festival to use Centennial Park on Mother’s Day, May 13th, for a special activity that would include beer and wine sales, along with allowing roving vendors to serve those watching the three Tulip Time parades on bleachers set up in the 8th Street Marketplace.
