ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Shopping for a cause proved to be beneficial in Zeeland.
City officials said on Thursday that the annual three-night “Feel the Zeel of Giving” effort earlier this month raised more than 26 hundred dollars for Hand 2 Hand, a ministry that works with local schools and churches to provide nutritious food for youngsters on weekends when government-sponsored meal programs in schools are not available. The money came from a variety of activities, including horse-drawn trolley rides, photos with Santa Claus, petting live reindeer, and extended shopping hours in the downtown district. Participating retailers also contributed financially to the program.
