HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Addressing the need for more skilled workers and improving the skills of those already in the workforce in Michigan has been a goal of Governor Snyder in his second and final term in office.
To that end, 57 companies in West Michigan will be sharing over 2.4 million dollars in Skilled Trades Training Fund grants through the state’s Talent Investment Agency. As pointed out in Wednesday’s announcement through Lakeshore Advantage, this is nearly double what the TIA awarded last year, when 34 companies received 1.37 million to upskill employees.
Employers earn consideration for these grants by indicating a matching training investment in their application, with the state preferring a two-to-one ratio from the company. A list of local firms winning these grants is here.
