HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Now that we’ve finally had some snow, it’s time to really enjoy the outdoors this week!
1/4 Monday: Team Trivia Mondays at the Curragh- eam Trivia of Michigan is the premiere entertainment company in Michigan, providing quality, nightly fun for everyone. If you can think, walk, and write (you don’t have to do it all at the same time), then you are qualified to play. Whether you’re a TV-buff, a History major, the guy who knows everything about sports, or the one who can remember lines from every movie they’ve seen… Team Trivia is right for you. Curragh prizes are usually, $30 gift certificates for first place, $20 gift certificates for second and $10 gift certificates for third. 1/5 Tuesday: Open Mic Nights at the Park Theater- Weekly Special Guest/Featured Artist! House Band! Drink Specials! Hosted by Dave Dziuban (Doobie). 248 South River Avenue, Holland; 8pm-Midnight; $2 door.
1/6 Wednesday: Illumination: Landscapes and Sculptures by Doug Klemm at the Holland Area Arts Council- After a year and a half as an Artist in Residence, Doug will be displaying his work in an exhibition, called Illumination, in the gallery where he has been creating. Illumination is Doug’s return from a long hiatus. His previous work featured earth tones but current work has a brighter, more vibrant palate with a strong emphasis on light and shadow. Doug also exhibits six sculptures to accent the two dimensional paintings and show the range of his work. 150 E 8th St, Holland; 10am-6pm; Free.
1/7 Thursday: Coppercraft Distillery Tours- Take a guided tour of Coppercraft’s distilling process, including samples and a glass! 184 120th Ave, Holland; 4-10pm; $10 includes glass.
1/8 Friday: Snowshoe Walk at Riley Trails- Explore Riley Trails with a naturalist from the Outdoor Discovery Center Macatawa Greenway on snowshoes. Wooden, Ojibwa-style snowshoes ideal for children aged 8 years and up will be available for loan. Participants are welcome to wear their own snowshoes. Flashlights are recommended. Be prepared to be outside the entire 2 hours hiking. At least 4 inches of snow base is required in order for the loaner snowshoes to be available to the group. If ample snow is not available, the group will still take a winter hike. Please contact Outdoor Discovery Center the week of the hike if you would like to know if snowshoes will be used. 1/9 Saturday: Holland Symphony Orchestra presents the Norbert Mueller Concerto Competition & Recital at Hope College- The annual competition and recital that is free and open to the public. Winner performs with Holland Symphony on the Family Concert, March 13, 2016 at the Zeeland East High School, DeWitt Auditorium and receives $500 prize. Second place is $250. 1/10 Sunday: Frigid Fondo at Virtue Cider- Velo City Cycles and Virtue Cider invite you to join us on January 10, 2016 for the 1st annual Frigid Fondo. This group ride will start and finish at Virtue Farm in Fennville, taking you on some great gravel roads in Allegan County. Once on the course, you can choose to ride the 18 or 30 mile route. Each distance will have a group leader and sweeper, but you should come prepared to self support your ride. Participants will receive a course map, Frigid Fondo number plate and one drink ticket. Ideal bikes include mountain bikes and fatbikes and The course will be marked and plowed. 2170 62nd Street (122nd ave), Fennville; 1:00 PM; $30 to participate.
