HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Demetrius Lake set a Holland High single-game scoring record with 50 points, including the game-winning 3-point shot as the buzzer sounded, to lift the Dutch to a 69-68 win over Zeeland West in boys’ high school basketball action Friday night at the Dutch Dome.
Lake’s performance broke the previous Holland single-game record of 49, set by Ron Maat in 1960. In other area high school basketball action Friday, West Ottawa stayed unbeaten with a 56-42 win over Grandville, raising the Panthers’ record to 8-0, while Zeeland East downed Kenowa Hills 71-57, Byron Center dumped Holland Christian 62-45, Unity Christian romped past Hamilton 67-34, Fennville won at Hartford, 68-51 and Calvary won at Fruitport Christian, 53-44.
