FLINT, MI (WHTC) – In response to a request submitted from Governor Rick Snyder on Jan. 14, President Barrack Obama has officially declared that the contaminated water in Flint is an emergency situation and has ordered federal aid to supplement state and local response efforts.
In a press release released by the White House yesterday, The President has authorized the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate all disaster relief efforts in cleaning up Flint’s water systems. Specifically, FEMA will provide water, water filters, water filter cartridges, water test kits, and other necessary related items to the Flint population.
This assistance will last no more than 90 Days, in accordance with Department of Homeland Security regulations. The President has also offered assistance in identifying other Federal agency capabilities that could support the recovery effort.
