He is survived by his parents Tim and Gina; his sister Mya; his grandparents: Marcia Broekhuis, and Ginny and Nick Tatarchuk; his aunts and uncles: Tom and Robin Broekhuis, Kristine and Javier Sanchez, David and Cheryl Boeve, Becky and Chad Skiba, Rachel Tatarchuk, and Nick Tatarchuk Jr.; his cousins: Elizabeth and Luke, Codey, Jacob, Javi, Diego, Eddie, Owen, Anthony, Aalihya, Jennah, Kensington.
Gavin was a senior at Zeeland East High School, where he was a member of both the swim and water polo teams. He worked at Vriesland Farmers Co-Op and was part of Southsiders 4-H Club, where he participated annually in the Hudsonville Fair, showing steers and pigs for the past 8 years. Gavin loved spending time with his many friends: snowmobiling, fishing, shooting hoops and driving around in his truck. He also enjoyed spending time with his family: working on the family farm, camping, and hanging out with his cousins. Gavin loved engaging in any competitive activity, be it from athletics to card games to video games.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. The funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, March 18, 2022, at The Foundry Church, 425 100th Street, Zeeland. Interment will be in West Drenthe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Autism Speaks.
