1/25 Monday: The Art of Living with Joy Exhibition at the Holland Area Arts Council- Holland artists Carolyn Stich and Alla Dickson invite you to shake the winter blues by joining them at their exhibit, “The Art of Living with Joy,” presented by the Holland Area Art’s Council. Vibrant colors and jovial subjects are evidence that Alla and Carolyn use art to express their happiness throughout the year. During the winter months, Carolyn Stich Studio and Alla Dickson Studio preserve the warmth and welcome of summer by creating art that reflects what they love. With these common goals in mind, they join together to share their joy with West Michigan. Using her extensive background in education and psychology, Alla brings her happiness to life with bold brush strokes and oil paints on canvas. Vibrant flowers and beautiful landscapes capturing glimpses of Alla’s joy will be on display in the gallery. Carolyn’s whimsical paintings, done in black ink and gouache, depict the everyday scenes from which she finds happiness. She will exhibit paintings of puppies and trains and everything in between in her usual lighthearted style. 150 E 8th St, Holland; 10am-8pm; Free.
1/26 Tuesday: Open Mic Night at the Park Theater Turns 2- Celebrate 2 years of Open Mic!Special guests: CRIME FUNK, Olivia Mainville & The Aquatic Troupem, The Fever Haze, Brother Adams, Sonic Coma, Bettenal, and River Ave House Band. After two years the House Band is also going to learn a real song. 248 South River Avenue; 8pm-Midnight; $2 door.
1/27 Wednesday: Hope College Men’s Basketball vs. Calvin- Cheer on the Flying Dutchman at DeVos Fieldhouse. 222 Fairbanks Avenue, Holland Twp; 8pm; Reserved Seating $10; Adult Bleacher General Seating $7; Under 18 Bleacher General Seating $5.
1/28 Thursday: Get Frozen at New Holland Brewing Company Restaurant & Pub- Be part of history at the first annual Ice Bar Fundraiser benefiting Arts programming for the Lakeshore community. A cool evening where the only things keeping you warm are the clothing on your back, riveting conversation, seasonal cocktails, fire pits and dancing. Come dressed for the occasion! This is an outdoor event. Price includes heavy appetizers, beer, wine, entertainment, live and silent auctions. 1/29 Friday: Great Performance Series: Julian Sands in “An Evening with Harold Pinter” at Knickerbocker Theatre- British actor Julian Sands is frequently seen world-wide in films, on stage, and on television. He trained in London at The Central School of Speech and Drama and has appeared in over 100 films including;The Killing Fields, A Room With A View, Impromptu, Leaving Las Vegas, Arachnophobia, Oceans 13, and The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo. 1/30 Saturday: AGA Nation Downtown Holland Rail Jam in Downtown Holland- Downtown Rail Jam open for snowboarders & skiers – Free for open riding! Professional demonstrations throughout the day!
