HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Tomorrow is the 13th annual American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile!” day.
The Ottawa County Department of Public Health’s “Miles of Smiles” mobile dental unit will be at two locations tomorrow. Jefferson Elementary School in Holland and Great Lakes Elementary School. More than 100 volunteer dental professionals and GRCC students provide dental services each year. The event raises awareness about the number of children with unmet-dental needs and the obstacles they face when seeking dental care.
Dentist Hilary Lane,one of the dentists working the mobile unit tomorrow says they have facilated over 40,00 appointments, but there is still a great need. She says education is critical and during the month of February they get the word out about how important dental health is.
Miles of Smiles operates year-round to provide free dental services to uninsured and low income children. To find out if your child qualifies you can call 1-800-467-5905.
