HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Michigan Sheriff’s Association’s (MSA) teen driving program is free to everyone.
It’s called Sheriff’s Telling Our Parents and Promoting Educated Drivers. (STOPPED) The program reminds teens to drive safely and informs parents when their teen is pulled over by participating law enforcement agencies. The goal of STOPPED is to reduce the number of young drivers who are involved in motor vehicle crashes each year.
Here’s how it works. Owners register any vehicle which may be driven by a person under 21 regardless of their relationship to the teen. It could be a grandparent, aunt, uncle even older siblings. Anyone who has a teen drive their vehicle can register. An identification decal is issued by MSA and affixed to the front windshield of the vehicle where is serves as a constant reminder to the teen to always drive as if his/her parents are in the car.
Notification is given only if the driver of the registered vehicle is under 21. Click on the link for more information. http://www.misheriff.org/programs/stopped
