GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – With both Ed Post and Kenneth Post (unrelated) retiring from their judgeships at the end of 2016, hopefuls to replace them on the Ottawa County bench are lining up.
Last month, local attorney Christopher Wirth announced his candidacy for the Ottawa County Circuit Court seat that Ed Post is stepping down from. Wirth has running his own legal practice for more than two years, focusing on litigation, business law and mediation, after several years with Dykema Gossett and Rhoades McKee.
As for Kenneth Post’s post on the Hudsonville District Court bench, current District Court Magistrate Vern Helder has plans to run in the August 2nd Primary Election, citing 13 years at that post along with 18 years with a Grand Rapids-based law firm. In addition, veteran criminal attorney Craig Jenison has announced his candidacy and is expected to challenge Helder; Jenison is a one-time Special City Attorney for the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming.
