HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the suspect in a robbery and stabbing that occurred at the Mobil gas station, 4842 Port Sheldon St., just before 6 p.m. on Monday in Blendon Township.
According to Captain Mark Bennett, Bret Tyler Williams, 19, of Georgetown Township is currently lodged in the Ottawa County jail on a $75,000 cash bond. He has been charged with assault with attempt to commit murder and assault with attempt to commit robbery.
Williams used a knife to threaten the clerks while demanding cash. The clerks responded by rushing out of the building, Bennett said.
While suspect tried opening the cash register, a 38-year-old man, also from Hudsonville, entered the station. The teen stabbed him and left the building, but called 911, Bennett said.
The stabbing victim was rushed to Spectrum Health Butterworth for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Bennett said.
