HOLLAND (WHTC) — Abigail Kopf, one of two survivors of the Feb. 20, 2016, mass shooting in Kalamazoo, left Bronson Children’s Hospital earlier today.
The 14-year-old suffered critical injuries and spent 17 days at Bronson. Her condition steadily improved to the point where she’s been transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility in Grand Rapids, according to a statement from Bronson Children’s Hospital emailed to the media Tuesday.
Bronson’s medical director, Dr. Aaron Lane-Davies, said the girl’s progress is exceptional, but she still has a long journey ahead. Abigail’s parents, Gene and Vicki Kopf, expressed thanks for the continued support from the community and repeated a request that the media to respect their privacy.
