ALLEGAN, MI – (WHTC) – Deputies and Detectives with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by law enforcement in Berrien County after they located the suspect of a serious domestic assault that occurred around 2:30 am this morning in the 1300 block of 66th Street in Ganges Twp.
Deputies were sent to the Ganges Twp location after the victim, a 54 year old female who resided at the location of the assault, ran to a neighbors home for help. The victim had been injured in the domestic assault after the suspect, a 53 year old male, had poured what is believed to be acid on the face and chest of the victim.
The suspect had also done a considerable amount of damage to the residence and to items in the home prior to the victim arriving home. Upon her arrival the suspect tackled her to the ground and poured acid on her. The suspect made several unusual statements to her and then fled the scene in her vehicle.
Law Enforcement partners from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Watervliet Police Dept., and Coloma Twp Police located the victim’s vehicle in Berrien County and located the suspect who was arrested.
