HOLLAND (WTHC) — Holland resident Kari Francomb, 35, went to Holland Hospital by ambulance after a four-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. David VanderPloeg.
Francomb was attempted to cross the intersection of 112th Avenue at I-196 under the assumption that traffic lights in all directions were both flashing red, VanderPloeg said. But the lights on I-196 were flashing yellow.
Francomb’s 2002 Buick Regal crossed the path of a semi tractor-trailer driven by David Bunch, 38, of Gaylord. Bunch was headed east on I-196.
The force of the collision sent both vehicles east, into a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Deckerville resident Bali Keller 27, who was waiting to turn left onto southbound 112th, and the vehicle stopped behind Keller’s, a 2012 Ford Transit Connect van being driven by Michael Simon 56, of Martin, MI.
Francomb had to be extricated from her vehicle by Holland Township firefighters, VanderPloeg said, and she was taken to Holland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt, he said.
