HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland Community Aquatic Center has hired Jim Whitehead as Head Coach for Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics (MLA).
Whitehead is a USA Swimming and American Swim Coach Association accredited swim coach with more than 13 years of Head Coach Experience. According to the Aquatic Center, he has coached every level of swimmer, novice to Olympic Trials, and multiple Senior and Junior National event winners.
Jim believes in being a motivated student of the sport of swimming in order to provide the best opportunities for swimmers in and out of the water. Through sound stroke technique and swimming fundamentals, his focus is to improve our team’s depth in quality, create a competitive learning environment, and promote a team atmosphere. Jim most recently coached at Plymouth-Canton Cruisers in Canton, Michigan, for the National and Age Group levels.
Coach Jim joins an experienced HCAC coaching staff which includes MLA assistant coaches Kyle Mallory, Sara Kadzban, and Diana Simmons, MLA masters coach Mike Daley, and MLA diving coach Mike Ledesma. There will be an informal “meet & greet” MLA parent meeting with Jim today March 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the Aquatic Center.
Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics is looking forward to hosting two long course meets this summer, the Big Red Challenge June 10-12, and the West Michigan Classic July 9 and 10. Spectators are welcome to come out and watch some of the best swimmers in the state.
