HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The days of taking ink impressions of newborn’s footprints are giving way to digital technology.
Holland Hospital will soon be using an infant identification system developed by CertaScan Technologies which allows the hospital to capture high resolution digital newborn footprints.
Beginning in mid-April, hospital birthing unit staff will scan a newborn’s feet using the CertaScan system. The digital footprints will then securely stored in CertaScan’s private cloud data server. Like finger prints, the footprints are unique to each baby.
Each new mom will receive a certificate of her newborn’s footprint during her stay. When she returns home, she can visit the CertaScan website to enhance the certificate with colors, different fonts and borders. She can then download a digital copy of her baby’s footprint from the cloud server.
Holland Hospital is the first hospital in the west Michigan area to implement this innovative service
