HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Reconstruction work on US-31 between Quincy and 8th Streets is on schedule according to MDOT.
MDOT’s Assistant Construction Engineer Leo A. Evans says Stage 1 will be completed by Tulip Time which runs May 7-14, 2016. To date they have completed ½ of the underground work related to the new traffic signals and removed nearly all of the fencing including tree removal.
In the coming weeks the primary focus will be continuing to install the new traffic signals with work being centered at the intersections and will be done utilizing single lane or shoulder closures on US-31 and single lane closures on side streets.
Phase 2 will begin after Tulip Time and run through mid-August. All southbound US-31 traffic will be crossed over onto northbound US-31 near New Holland Street and then crossed back onto the southbound side near 16th street.
Stage 3 is scheduled to be from mid-August to mid-November. Up to date information on traffic restrictions go to www.michigan.gov/drive.
