HOLLAND TWP, MI (WHTC) – A man who blacked out behind the wheel, knocked out power to a large section of Holland Township for half of the day on Sunday, April 18.
According to Sgt. Dean DeVries of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Jacob Christopher King blacked out at about 11 p.m. Saturday while driving west on Douglas Avenue. His car drifted off the road to the right and struck a power pole.
The pole fell hitting adjacent poles and knocking out power to a large part of Holland Township. Power was out 11 p.m. Saturday till 1 p.m. Sunday.
King was cited for careless driving at the scene of the crash.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Holland Township Fire Rescue and the Holland Board of Public Works.
