HOLLAND (WHTC) — Drivers will find traffic down to single lanes between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. today (Monday, April 25, 2016) on northbound US-31 from Eighth Street to Ransom Street.
Crews will be removing pavement markings from the edge of northbound US-31. The markings will be replaced with Michigan’s signature construction barrels on both shoulders of NB US-31 for the next two weeks.
Phase 1 of the US-31 project in Holland is set to be done by Tulip Time but there could be weather delays, MDOT engineer Leo Evans told. Thunderstorms are predicted overnight.
“I don’t think a day here or there will have a big impact on our project,” he said.
He said if rain delays the work into Tulip Time week, crews would shift to a midnight-4 a.m. schedule to limit the affect on fesival traffic.
Drivers will currently find single-lane closures on US-31 and side roads during the daylight hours as part of the ongoing signal replacement.
Evans said between 10 and 15 workers are on the job and reminded drivers traffic fines are doubled in construction zones — where speeds are lowered for worker safety.
