HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The monthly siren test for communities in Ottawa County will occur this week on Friday. May 6 at 12 p.m.
Ottawa County Emergency Management will coordinate the test this month utilizing individual jurisdiction activation tones which will sound in sequence throughout the county.
This means that instead of sounding all county sirens simultaneously, several sirens in one area are activated, then the following area, etc., until all sirens in the county are tested. This could mean that some communities may hear the sirens slightly after the noon hour as each area is activated in sequence.
The jurisdictions of Georgetown, GVSU, Hudsonville, and Zeeland will test the sirens for their own jurisdictions in coordination with County Emergency Management. When tested, the sirens will sound for approximately 1 to 3 minutes.
Ottawa County monthly siren tests occur this year during the months of April through November on the first Friday of each month. The next scheduled siren test will occur on Friday June 3, 2016.
