HOLLAND (WHTC) — The death of a 30-year-old woman at the Wooden Shoe Motel on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, is being investigated by Holland police detectives. Police and fire crews raced to the scene just after 9 p.m. after a report of a medical emergency.
Holland Police Sgt. Jon Boeve said several rounds of CPR were attempted on the woman before she was pronounced deceased. She remains unidentified pending notification of family.
Six police vehicles as well as fire engines and an ambulance were on the scene for more than an hour Tuesday night.
The Wooden Shoe Motel was shut down by the city in 2012 after a meth bust and subsequent safety inspections found 15 pages’ worth of violations.
In February, 2013, police arrested a sex offender at the motel, with a 14-year-old Holland Township girl he’d lured away from home.
In 2013, Holland City Council revoked, then reinstated the motel’s occupancy license, with such conditions as requiring a new roof on the building.
