Regardless of the cold temperatures on the last day of the 2016 Tulip Time Festival, Holland residents tried for a second time to break the Guinness World Record for most people dancing in wooden shoes at one time.
With temperatures in the low 40s on Saturday evening, many people were bundled up to the max against the biting wind coming off Lake Macatawa in Kollen Park. Despite the cold, over 900 people registered to perform in Klomp the Record 2.0. Bethany Christian Services sponsored the event.
Unfortunately, there weren’t enough dancers to beat the World Record set by the residents of Pella, Iowa during their Tulip Festival in 2010. 2,606 people were needed to dance in wooden shoes for at least five minutes to beat the record.
