HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland Department of Public Safety is searching for the driver who led them on an overnight chase through part of Ottawa County shortly before 3 a.m.
Holland Police were dispatched to the 100 block of E 16th Street Tuesday to take a complaint of stalking from a female who stated her ex boyfriend was in the area and had threatened her. While police were on scene, the suspect drove by and another officer located the vehicle. After confirming that this vehicle was related to the complaint, the officer initiated a traffic stop however the suspect sped up and refused to stop.
The pursuit started near 24th Street and Apple Ave and continued south on Apple to 32nd Street. The suspect continued east on 32nd Street to Waverly Road, south on Waverly Road at speeds near 100 MPH. The suspect failed to negotiate the turn at Waverly near M-40 where he went off the road and rolled the truck he was driving over. The suspect fled into a field and assisting officers immediately set up a perimeter. An on duty HPD K-9 began a track and after several hours of searching the suspect was not located.
The suspect is a 20-year-old man from Holland and police are attempting to locate him. Police are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time and hope he cooperates by turning himself in.
